NT Solar invested in the $1.7 million of Solar investment tax credits (ITC) generated by the project, which consisted of six ground- and roof-mounted installations in Maine and New Hampshire. The projects were developed by Wishcamper Solar Partners, a Portland, Maine-based socially motivated for-profit developer of affordable housing with properties in 22 states. The new installations will provide up to 9% in energy savings to subscribers, which include the Nashua school district, Dartmouth College, and three municipalities.

“We are grateful to NT Solar for providing both funding and invaluable guidance to us in a very complicated transaction,” said Lyndel “Joe” Wishcamper, President of Wishcamper Companies.

The 3.9 MW installations, which will generate an estimated 3.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year of renewable energy annually:

  • Creates enough electricity to take nearly 435 homes off the grid
  • Is the equivalent of burning over 2.8 million pounds of coal
  • Sequesters the same amount of carbon from the atmosphere as nearly 3,300 acres of forest
  • Offsets the CO2 emissions generated from consuming 288,000 gallons of gasoline annually

The Wishcamper Companies, based in Portland, Maine, is a socially motivated for-profit developer of affordable housing with properties in 22 states. Its experience with providing solar energy in a number of properties recently led it to into acquisition and development of small scale commercial solar arrays. Its portfolio of commercial arrays now totals 20 properties, including ground-mount and roof-mount arrays.
