NT Solar Debut at Renewable Energy Tax Credit Conference

Written By: NTCIC

Novogradac & Company LLP is scheduled to host their annual Renewable Energy Tax Credit conference in San Francisco, CA from May 2-4 where NTCIC will be introducing a new brand for their renewable energy program, NT Solar.

NT Solar finances the transformation of sustainable communities nationwide by leveraging solar Investment Tax Credits (ITCs) for commercial, municipal, residential and utility installations. NT Solar raises capital from investors and then identifies quality solar sponsors, provides due diligence, compliance management and strategic guidance to achieve community impact goals for all prospective solar ITC transactions. Karin Berry leads NT Solar as VP of Renewable Energy. Karin serves as the primary business development/relationship manager with solar ITC investors and project developers to syndicate solar ITCs.

The conference will bring solar investors, developers, and practitioners together to network and discuss ways to support solar ITCs at the local, regional and national levels. Over the course of three days, NT Solar will be engaged in multiple conference sessions and activities. Conference attendees are invited to meet NT Solar team members:

Merrill Hoopengardner on Friday, May 4 at the Alternative Sources of Tax Equity–Beyond the Usual Suspects panel. Merrill will be one of five executives participating on the panel. The interactive discussion will revolve around insights into other tax equity investors beyond the usual suspects: investors that may invest in smaller projects, one-off projects, or projects developed by smaller development companies. Panelists will discuss the types of projects in which they typically invest, in addition to a description of the investors, pricing trends, preferred transaction structures, etc.

As President of NT Solar and NTCIC, Merrill directs fundraising and acquisitions opportunities, develops and implements overall strategy and new lines of business for the company and coordinates governing board/staff relations.

Shervin Sepehri will be present throughout the conference. As Project Manager, Shervin is responsible for collecting and reviewing data from financial modeling, financial reports, engineering reports and project legal contracts for NT Solar. He also prepares diligence reports for investment committee and investor consideration and manages the closing process for approved solar ITC deals. Prior to joining NT Solar, Shervin spent 4 years at Fannie Mae assisting with the valuation and analysis of their multi-billion dollar structured products portfolio. Shervin earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Maryland and became a CFA charterholder in September of 2017.

Sarah McDonnell will also be present throughout the conference. As an Asset Manager, Sarah is responsible for managing NTCIC’s portfolio of HTC, NTMC, and solar ITC projects during the tax credit compliance periods. For five years prior to joining NTCIC, Sarah worked as a Senior Development Associate for a real estate development company in Michigan that specialized in historic rehabilitation. There, she reviewed all transaction documents and oversaw the closing process of each project. Sarah graduated with her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Western Michigan University and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Michigan State University.
